CorSport: To be evaluated in preseason – Milan’s Cisse signing should not be overlooked

While the only first-team winter signing was Niclas Füllkrug, the addition of Alphadjo Cisse should not be overlooked.

As Corriere dello Sport (via MN24) recall this morning, the big news of deadline day was the deal that didn’t go through rather than the three that did, given that Jean-Philippe Mateta failed his medical and the move collapsed.

However, there was still movement of sorts concerning the attacking department, as the Rossoneri deposited the contract of Alphadjo Cissè, the young talent who is enchanting Serie B.

A late hijack

The operation conducted by Igli Tare beat international competition (above all PSV Eindhoven) to secure one of the most promising profiles in Italian football. Milan will pay Verona €8m as a fixed fee, plus €2m in bonuses tied to future objectives, and there will be a resale plan.

Despite the permanent purchase, the club also decided to leave Cissè on loan with Catanzaro until June. This will allow the teenager to complete his so-far excellent season in Calabria as a regular starter before joining Allegri’s squad for the summer preseason retreat.

This season he has already made 21 appearances and scored six goals, demonstrating a composure in front of goal that is surprising for a 19-year-old. He primarily plays as an attacking midfielder or as a second striker.

He is a natural right-footer who combines great vision with a tight dribbling ability that makes him difficult to trap. Cisse has already tasted Serie A with Verona (four appearances in total) before the loan move, so he is not far away at all from being a senior regular.
