CorSport: Tomori the first of three renewals Milan are targeting – the details

There are several plans in the pipeline at AC Milan, and the Rossoneri are planning to get a few players’ futures locked down.

This summer, the focus was on a reset, and Milan prioritised incomings and outgoings. Now, with the mercato not open and a few Serie A games’ worth of knowledge, the club can look at the contractual situations.

Right now, seven players have contract expirations next summer or the following summer. So, there is a need to clarify their situations, and either prepare for departures or tie them down to new deals.

Included in that seven are Luka Modric, Pietro Terracciano and Mike Maignan. All of their deals expire next summer, but the focus is not on them, at least not yet.

Tomori first

Right now, as Corriere dello Sport write, the club are focusing on the situation of Fikayo Tomori, where the first steps have been taken to renew the Rossoneri defender’s contract. ‘Initial’ approaches have been made, as Pianeta Milan relay, and the extension topic will be studied shortly.

Igli Tare’s idea would be a 2029 renewal, with the option of another season, seeing him stay at the club until the summer of 2030, potentially, when he would be 32 years old.

Allegri believes in him and thinks the Englishman can be useful in two areas of defence. Additionally, with him being one of the more experienced options in the squad, the defender could grow further with the Diavolo.

As well as his contract, the Milan management are looking at the deals of Alexis Saelemaekers and Christian Pulisic, whilst a deal for Mike Maignan looks unlikely.
