CorSport: Why Milan are ready to wait until August to accelerate for Vlahovic

4 hours ago 56

AC Milan will probably have to wait until August for things to materialise in their striker search, but Dusan Vlahovic is very much an idea.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Milan want to wait until August to attempt a move for a striker because Vlahovic is also on the list, and the Serbian striker’s situation could become clearer in a couple of weeks.

The deal is very complicated due to the salary and commission costs, and Juventus themselves are struggling to get rid of the striker, but Milan are interested and are monitoring the situation behind closed doors, without stirring up a media frenzy.

The Rossoneri management’s move could come into effect in August, when tensions between Vlahovic and the Bianconeri begin to rise. Juve have been studying a way to part ways with the Serbian striker for some time, and so far, every attempt has failed.

Dusan and his agent are asking for a total severance payment of €10m to end their relationship with the Old Lady early , but up until now the request has been considered too high.

The obstacle

For both Juventus and Milan, the major obstacle will be Vlahovic’s high salary. At Juventus , he currently earns €12m net per year, but his contract expires in less than 12 months.

In the event of a transfer to the Rossoneri he would have to accept an offer of €6-7m per year, the maximum that CEO Giorgio Furlani would be willing to put forward. For this reason, the operation currently appears to be difficult.

The financial aspect is of primary importance for Redbird’s Milan, and economic parameters must always be respected, especially in a season in which there is no income from participation in European competitions. The transfer fee, around €20m, is less problematic.

Some figures within the Rossoneri are convinced that ultimately, if they overcome some difficulties, Vlahovic could truly be the right opportunity at the end of the summer window. They are eagerly awaiting the evolution of the situation between the player and Juve, ready to intervene.

Vlahovic has already worked with Allegri in Turin, knows his training methods, and knows what he demands in matches. Milan would be signing a striker who has been familiar with Serie A for years, having worn the shirts of Fiorentina and Juventus, and who would not need to adapt.

This is another point in Vlahovic’s favour over a possible reinforcement from abroad, such as Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen or Tolu Arokodare from Genk.
