Rafael Leao has arguably been AC Milan’s most decisive played since his arrival over six years ago, but he isn’t playing at his best currently.
Corriere dello Sport (via Radio Rossonera) write how Milan are having a busy week as they prepare to face Bologna in the late match next Tuesday. During these uninterrupted few days at Milanello, the Rossoneri are focusing on Leao’s condition.
The Portuguese hasn’t yet fully recovered from the adductor problem that has hampered his performances since the start of the season. This week could be crucial for his recovery, as a result.
Fighting to be fit
The newspaper gives an overview of the training situation: “Milan had a morning session today, then Massimiliano Allegri granted them a day of rest tomorrow, with work scheduled to resume on Saturday morning to prepare for the trip to Bologna.”
Why? The match at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara is scheduled for February 3, an anomalous schedule that has forced the club to rearrange their traditional training sessions.

Particular attention is on Leao’s condition, as CorSport write: “The adductor problem is holding him back from his most natural movements, namely sprinting and dribbling at speed.”
However, the former Lille make ‘still takes the field, with great availability and professionalism, but he’s not the real Leao’. That’s precisely why he’s specialising more in end product rather than his sprints and dribbles down the wing.
How might the attack look against Bologna? Christian Pulisic is also dealing with an ankle problem and is not in great physical shape. However, he and Leao are the two favourites to start against the Rossoblù.
