Alessandro Costacurta believes that the AC Milan forwards need to offer more to head coach Massimiliano Allegri.
Milan are back in Serie A action tonight at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara in Bologna, rounding off the 23rd matchday. It will be a tough game despite the Rossoblu’s recent struggles in the league, and there will be a depleted attack.
Not only did a deadline day move for Jean-Philippe Mateta collapse due to a failed medical, but Rafael Leao is not deemed fit enough to start in Emilia, nor is Niclas Füllkrug. Christian Pulisic will miss out entiely due to injury, leaving Christopher Nkunku up front with Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Costacurta spoke live on the Sky programme Calciomercato L’Originale last night following the closing of the window, and he gave his thoughts on how Milan’s squad are shaping up after the quiet close to the winter mercato.
“Milan must wait for those three or four players to improve their performance, especially in attack. I’m talking about Rafa Leao, but also Christian Pulisic, who started well but is not feeling well now,” he said.
“Nkunku also needs to give a little more. I think Milan are hoping the players up front improve their individual performances.”
