‘Couldn’t have done worse’ – Allegri’s strong words at half-time in Atalanta-Milan

Massimiliano Allegri was not happy with how AC Milan played in the first half against Atalanta, and he let his team know about it.

Atalanta and Milan shared the spoils at the New Balance Arena after an intense match that ended with plenty of scoring opportunities. After moving up to the top of the table with their victory over Fiorentina, Allegri’s men have slowed down with back to back draws.

A point on the road in Bergamo is not a bad result – especially given the Rossoneri’s recent record there – but there’s no time to dwell on things because on Sunday they immediately return to the field against Roma in another key match.

After the 1-1 draw at Atalanta, Massimiliano Allegri spoke to Milan TV (via Calciomercato.com) and shared a bit of insight into what inspired the second-half reaction, after a difficult opening 45 minutes.

“It’s not easy playing here. After the lead, we made a lot of technical mistakes. We improved in the second half, but we definitely need to improve our decisions in the final 20 metres.

“At half-time, I said we couldn’t have done worse. We made too many mistakes in the first half. We simply needed to make fewer mistakes, and we did.”
