‘Create financial difficulties’ – Moretto highlights potential issue for Milan in Pulisic talks

1 week ago 27

There has once again been panic spreading among the AC Milan fan base regarding Christian Pulisic’s future, and a clarification has arrived.

Earlier in the week, Tuttomercatoweb published a story about Pulisic, claiming that the forward expected a contract offer from Milan by now, and that both Arsenal and Liverpool are monitoring his situation closely in view of the summer window.

Since his arrival from Chelsea in the 2023 summer transfer window, there is no doubting that the USA international has been the Rossoneri’s most consistent performer, at least in terms of output. However, his deal officially expires at the end of next season, even if there is a club option.

Pulisic’s future: Moretto’s update

On Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, Matteo Moretto discussed Pulisic’s contract situation amid all of the stories circulating at the moment regarding a potential return to the Premier League.

“There’s a lot of talk about Pulisic’s possible renewal, or rather, the possibility that he might not renew. But first, I’ll tell you something: Pulisic’s contract expires in 2028, so 27+1, and there’s an option to renew in Milan’s favour, which Milan will obviously exercise,” he said.

Pulisic renewal mini feature

“So Milan are in no rush to renew Pulisic’s contract; there’s great calm, great tranquility. This year, he’s played 16 games, scored 8 goals, and assisted 2 times. He’s had several physical ailments, but he’s recovering, and we’ll see him back on the pitch soon.

“The only detail I want to highlight is that Pulisic, over time, is expected to fall outside the parameters of the Growth Decree, and this would create financial difficulties for Milan in offering him certain amounts for a new contract.

“It remains to be seen whether this situation can be resolved, but as of today, we’re not even talking about a proposal on the table. Discussions, which had been ongoing for months and months, have stalled. Milan believes they’re not in the right hurry to renew their contract.”
