Arsenal will be waiting anxiously over Cristhian Mosquera's injury latest after he was forced off against Brentford
Cristhian Mosquera has broken his silence after being forced off during Arsenal's 2-0 win over Brentford. The former Valencia centre-back was forced off during the first-half on Wednesday after landing awkwardly following a challenge.
The 21-year-old defender posted a series of wordless snaps to his Instagram story, including one that featured the song "Funky – Eres Mi Bendición" and "gio. & Aaron Cole – GOD'S TIMING". Arsenal face an anxious wait over the defender's fitness after seeing their options at the back deplete following a string of injury issues.
Already, Mikel Arteta has been forced to do without the partnership of William Saliba and Gabriel, who have picked up injury issues of late. Gabriel faces weeks on the sidelines after sustaining a thigh injury while on international duty with Brazil.
The French international, meanwhile, missed the last two matches after suffering a knock in the build-up to the London derby showdown with Chelsea on Sunday.
Mosquera posted to Instagram on Thursday including two action shots from his 44 minutes of action at the Emirates Stadium.
Mosquera was forced off after challenging Kevin Schade for a header on the stroke of half-time, and speaking after the 2-0 win, the Gunners' head coach admitted that there is uncertainty surrounding the 21-year-old's fitness.
"Yes, obviously it's never good news,” he said.
"Declan had to come off, we don't know. We have to see tomorrow what he's got. And Mosquera is the other one that is out.
"Obviously we have Gabriel and Willy are out as well. So we have to adapt."
Mosquera started in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea at the weekend, as he deputised alongside Piero Hincapie for the first time.
The pairing maintained their place in the starting line-up for the Bees' visit to north London.
But Mosquera's injury poses a fresh headache with Arsenal sitting five points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Arteta added: "[Rice] can walk. He cannot play.
"The thing is playing a lot of minutes, but as well when. Now we play Wednesday night and we have to play Saturday morning as well.
"We can play minutes, but if they can please give us just a little bit more time to recover and to make the well-being of these players a little bit easier, that would be great.
"We have to wait and see [with Mosquera]. It's probably part of the knee or ankle, we don't know. He could not really tell us exactly how it was, but he wasn't able to continue."
