The Curva Sud have announced that they will protest for the first 15 minutes of the game in Parma, having become frustrated with ticket sales.
Milan’s ultras are never far away from a story, it seems. Having finally returned to San Siro to cheer on the team as they did before, it seems that the ultras are having repeated problems when it comes to making trips to other stadiums.
In tonight’s game at the Stadio Ennio Tardini, the group have made it clear that they will protest for the first quarter of an hour of the game, having reached breaking point with the way that away allocations are decided and implemented.
Curva Sud speak out
A statement published by the Curva Sud explains some of the battles that they have had already this season, and in just the first few away games. MilanNews have relayed their words.
“This week, with the sale of tickets for the Parma away game, we’ve reached the height of disgust: half the organised fans [ultras] have been left without tickets, in defiance of meritocracy and the loyalty of those who always follow the team!

“But let’s proceed in order, because this is a problem we’ve been dragging around for a while. So, even if we’ll go into detail, it’s worth retracing together all the stages of the crazy events that have accompanied us at the start of this season:
“LECCE: as per Official Notice no. 109 of 9 November 2006 and subsequent amendments published with Official Notice no. 1 of 4 July 2007 of the Lega Serie A led by the illustrious De Siervo, clubs must make at least 5% of the total capacity available to away fans.
“Well, Lecce hasn’t cared for this for decades, with the complacency of the Lega Serie A, which has been informed of the problem several times, and so the 1,000 tickets for away fans (instead of the 1,600 that the law would allow), vanish in the Apulian betting shops in a matter of minutes.
“WE, with all the flights already booked at high prices in the middle of summer, for the third year in a row have had to turn to the legalised black market to obtain the tickets, paying €20 more than the cost price (€55!!!).
“UDINESE: here too, anyone could purchase a ticket, without priority, paying the whopping €55/€65 and then being forced to split into two non-communicating sectors.
“JUVENTUS: the only Italian club that forces you to register on its website to buy a ticket for the away section, which is also divided into two separate tiers and has a thousand problems with card recognition: deserted as has been the case for the last five years, like many other Italian fan groups.
“ATALANTA: tiny sector in Bergamo, here too no pre-emption and a thousand problems related to the recognition of cards, caused by Milan’s pitiful issuing system: the result is that many have remained at home ‘guilty’ of having non-functioning cards and many others, in order to be there, have bought on online platforms in the secondary market at doubled prices.
“PARMA: this time they outdid themselves, anyone could buy 4 tickets, with no pre-emption, no obligation to have a membership card and with tickets sold only at ticket offices (no online sales) at 3pm on a weekday Monday with people forced to take permits, all sorts of discussions in all the tobacconists to get a seat and tickets sold out in half an hour with hundreds of loyal fans on foot for the umpteenth time.
“These are the prices and methods we’ve been fighting against for several seasons now. This is the ‘People’s Football’ that sports institutions boast about… AS FAR AS WE’RE CONCERNED, THE TIME HAS COME TO SAY ENOUGH!
“We no longer want to be held hostage by these sales methods that ignore any meritocracy, based on attendance at home and, above all, away games.
“We no longer want to be forced to stay home if our cards don’t work, even though we’ve been reporting this problem to AC Milan for years without anyone being able to resolve it.
“We no longer want to be forced to take time off to buy tickets, after we already take it all year round to follow the team.
“We no longer want to see our management sleep, while for years many companies have been making agreements to maintain controlled prices (RIGHTLY), because the only ones paying the price are US and exclusively.

“We no longer want to be forced to choose who should be present and who shouldn’t. There are many groups (both ultras and clubs) that run buses all year round and who often, as happened in Parma, are forced to cancel and pay penalties because they can’t buy all the tickets.
“No one’s asking for the moon; we simply want fair ticket sales that allow organised fans (it’s called that because of the organisation behind it) to be there to cheer on the team. And as happens in major foreign leagues, which are often held up as an example by those who warm the seats in the palaces but don’t know the ropes, we want the establishment of meritocratic criteria for ticket allocation based on stadium attendance. Because for a large fan base like ours, it’s unthinkable not to use priority criteria for sales.
“In Parma, in protest, we will remain silent until the 15th minute of the first half in solidarity with the hundreds of people who are always present, making no distinction between the club, the fans, and other visitors to the away stands. They always follow AC Milan and will not be there this time either because someone has decided on this unfortunate sales method.
“At the start of the season, we all saw how much football loses without the support, without the folklore, without the passion of a fan base that sings for 90 minutes. So the time has come for those involved to urgently take countermeasures to resolve these issues once and for all, without forgetting the cap on ticket prices, given that today, in every stadium we’ve been to, we’ve always paid double what other fan bases pay…
