Daniel Farke shares Liverpool fear as Leeds boss issues Mohamed Salah warning

1 day ago 7

Daniel Farke has admitted his worries that Mohamed Salah might regain his "world-class" form against Leeds.

The Whites' manager isn't ready to dismiss Liverpool, despite the team's underwhelming season so far. Arne Slot, Farke's counterpart at Liverpool, is facing increasing pressure as the Reds have managed just a single win in their last five matches across all competitions. This leaves Liverpool languishing in ninth place in the Premier League table.

Liverpool's draw with Sunderland on Wednesday marked the team's first back-to-back unbeaten run in the Premier League since September. Salah has been missing from the starting line-up in the last two games, but he could be reinstated for Saturday's game.

Farke is hoping that the Egyptian's goal drought - now extending over a month - persists for at least one more game.

When asked about his concerns regarding Salah potentially finding his form this weekend, Farke replied: "Yes, because he's a world-class player with world-class numbers.

"When such a player has a difficult period, it's always pretty dangerous because the more games without the goal or without an assist, the more likely it is that you will score, then, or assist.

"Hopefully the dry spell lasts one more game."

Liverpool's defense has been under scrutiny, with Ibrahima Konate's performances attracting criticism, and captain Virgil van Dijk also facing questions about his performances.

Discussing the defensive duo, Farke remarked: "I wouldn't label it with Konate and Van Dijk, they are struggling at the back.

"They are world-class defenders,

"As a striker, sometimes you can lose the ball, but if you have a mistake in the back row, it can be criticized.

"So I have no doubt we will also face top-class centre-backs who have proven this over many years, and also about this season also against like Real Madrid, it's not too long ago."

In terms of Leeds injury updates, decisions on Lukas Nmecha (hamstring) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (calf) will be made at the last minute, while Sean Longstaff and Daniel James remain long-term absentees.

Leeds is 17th in the Premier League table, just two points above the relegation zone.
