Koni De Winter spoke to the media ahead of AC Milan’s clash against Lecce, getting the chance from start in the heart of the defence.
Since arriving from Genoa in the summer, De Winter has been getting some minutes here and there off the bench. Tonight’s clash will be his first from start, though, and everyone will thus be keeping a close eye on how he handles things.
Speaking to MilanTV, as transcribed by MilanNews, the Belgian discussed what it means to play from start. He also made it clear that Milan will have to give their all as this is a do-or-die game, in need of a win to progress to the next round.
How does it feel to make your debut as a starter?
“I’m pretty calm, it’s a match like any other. Sure, I’m wearing the AC Milan jersey as a starter, but I’m approaching it like a normal match, one that needs to be won.”
Are you ready?
“Yes, yes, for sure. We have to approach it with the right level of importance, as the coach says. It’s a do-or-die game, so it’s a game we take seriously and we have to win.”
If Milan were to win tonight, then they would secure a spot in the Round of 16, where an away clash against Lazio awaits. Hopefully, they will build on the strong performance we saw against Udinese the other day.
