De Winter discusses ‘opportunity’ against Pisa and Allegri’s approach: “It shows”

Ahead of tonight’s game between AC Milan and Pisa at San Siro, Koni De Winter spoke to the media and shared his thoughts on playing from the first minute.

Milan clinched an important win against Fiorentina last time out, scoring a late winner, and tonight they will be up against Pisa. It’s the second home game in a row, and considering the level of the opponents, the Rossoneri are big favourites.

Speaking to DAZN ahead of the game, as transcribed by MilanNews, De Winter spoke about his opportunity (playing from start) and the fact that he will be up against his former manager. He said it could be a full-circle moment of sorts.

What opportunity is this evening for Milan and for yourself?

“It’s an opportunity like every game. We’re still at the beginning of the season, but we’re trying to win every game.”

You meet Gilardino again… Do you dream of scoring against him?

“Of course, of course. I scored my first goal with him… You always dream, in every match you dream.”

How much does Allegri focus on the defence?

“He focuses on it a lot, especially on order, and it shows on the pitch. He wants us to defend as a group. It shows in the results.”

De Winter came off the bench for the final minutes against Fiorentina and did very well in the aerial duels. It’s only right that he gets the chance from start, especially since the Rossoneri are up against a weaker team on paper at least.
