After announcing his move to AC Milan, Koni De Winter took the time to give a message to Genoa after his time at the club.

Yesterday evening, Milan announced that they had signed De Winter from Genoa in a deal that is worth in the region of €20 million, per reports. The defender arrives with criticism around him due to the fee that Malick Thiaw brought.

However, he has previously worked with Massimiliano Allegri and has bags of Serie A experience. So, the criticism is unfair, and these views have been contested by others with a Rossoneri interest. Of course, the Belgian will have to fight for a place, but he is ready for that.

De Winter’s message

He spoke to the club media for the first time last night and admitted he was ready to fight for the Diavolo. However, he also took the chance to post a message to his former club as the officialities were made public, as MilanPress relayed.

Dear fans, staff, and everyone at Genoa CFC, today, I prepare to leave a team that has become very important to me. My time at Genoa CFC has been unforgettable: together, we celebrated successes, overcame difficult moments, and lived memorable experiences on and off the pitch.

“To the fans: your passion and unconditional support have pushed me to always give my all in every match. You are the heart of this club, and I am grateful for all the warmth you have shown me. Every time I have worn the Grifone jersey, I have felt the pride of being part of this family.

“To the staff: thank you for your commitment, guidance, and trust. Your professionalism and dedication have helped me grow as a player and as a person. We have always worked together to achieve the best, and I will never forget this collaboration.

“Even as I embark on a new adventure in my career, Genoa FC will always have a special place in my heart. I wish the club and all its members much success and happiness in the future. Thank you for everything. Forza Grifone, forever! With love, Koni!”
