De Winter not phased by Como nor position change: “Football remains football”

Koni De Winter believes that not a lot will change for him starting on the left against Como, versus his preferred right side.

For Milan, there is a serious risk of falling substantially behind in the title race given that Inter pulled six points clear at the top last night after beating Lecce 1-0 at San Siro, which followed Napoli’s goalless draw at home to Parma.

The Rossoneri need to win again to get within striking distance, and while they drew their last two games against Genoa and Fiorentina – two teams in relegation battles – they have actually performed well against top-half teams.

Massimiliano Allegri has made seven changes to the line-up from that Fiorentina draw. Koni De Winter, Luka Modric, Adrien Rabiot, Youssouf Fofana, Davide Bartesaghi, Christopher Nkunku and Rafael Leao all return after the mass rotation in Florence.

De Winter spoke to DAZN in the build-up to kick-off by the lake and he previewed what will be another start for him, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“The position changes, but football remains football, with its spaces and the ball. Only the position changes. I try to do my part. The important thing is that I play and that I can help the team.”
