Koni De Winter was happy to have made his AC Milan debut during the 1-0 win over Bologna, playing the second half at San Siro.
De Winter signed for Milan in August after the sale of Malick Thiaw to Newcastle United but he had not featured for even a single minute in any of the previous three competitive games to begin the new campaign.
He was thrust into action at half-time on Sunday night because Strahinja Pavlovic sustained a problem with his flexor. The Belgian helped contribute to the clean sheet in what was a solid defensive effort, restricting the away side to zero shots on target.
‘We fought as a team’
De Winter spoke to the journalists present in the mixed zone after the final whistle and his comments were relayed by MilanNews.
“We fought as a team, we defended and attacked as a team. This is what the coach wants, he wants us to play and win as a team. I felt good, I’m happy to have made my debut. I played in a position I know, so everything was fine.
“When you win, you always feel good, you can feel it even in the locker room. When you win, we’re all happy. Gimenez? He worked and played for the team, when you win, no one feels bad. The goal and his time will come.”
