Koni De Winter has given a third interview to the media in the past 24 hours, this time speaking to AC Milan’s official channels.

It would be fair to say that De Winter is in demand, having already spoken to SportMediaset and Tuttosport over the past day. It is deserved time in the limelight for the Belgian, given that his performances in the last few weeks have been much improved.

De Winter might actually be Milan’s most in-form defender at the moment, which didn’t seem thinkable heading into the turn of the year. He spoke to Milan TV about his recent resurgence, and his favoured position.

How did the first few months go?

“I came here and found great team-mates, a great staff, and a great team overall. I worked as I always have: sometimes games don’t go your way, but as I always have, I try to do the best I can.”

What’s your favoured role?

“For me, the important thing is to be on the pitch, then I try to help where I can. But being a defender, whether I’m on the left or right, doesn’t make much difference, it’s not a problem.”

What’s the atmosphere like within the group?

“All my teammates welcomed me very well, and so did the staff: you can feel that everyone is here to help you do your best for the group and not just for yourself.”

What is Allegri like?

“One of his qualities is always maintaining balance and being a stable point for the team.”

You got your first goal against Roma…

“I was very happy for myself and for the team: it was a wonderful moment because my family was also at the stadium. These are wonderful moments in my career.”

The last 15 games of the season await…

“We know how important every match is and we prepare for it as we always do.”

What is it like playing alongside your compatriot Saelemaekers?

“We work together a lot, and it’s easier because we speak the same language. We do it with all our teammates, but with him, there’s something different.”
