Defence and dribbling: Interesting numbers from Milan’s first six league games

AC Milan are playing really well in Serie A so far this season. They could have been better, but they could also be much worse.

The draw against Juventus has put a cloud over a fantastic recovery after the first game. Milan look like a much better team, and they have worked their way up the Serie A table to a point where they are now in the Scudetto conversation.

Of course, it is not a conversation worth losing yourself in yet. However, the denial that there is one there would be silly. Massimiliano Allegri has massively shaken up the team, and it shows.

Statistically impressive

The changes can be seen statistically, too, and MilanPress have relayed a recent showing from Lega Serie A, going into detail about the numbers of the Rossoneri.

Only Roma have conceded fewer goals so far this season, but to have conceded three goals so far is magnificent. Then, they have also kept the second-most clean sheets (3), and they are the only team not to concede away from home.

Allegri’s team do not really contest the ball, with the fewest duels sought (233) and the fewest duels won (56). With this, his team also have the fewest fouls committed (47).

Going forward, the Diavolo stand out for their dribbling, where they have the highest amount of successful dribbles (113). However, they are also unlucky, hitting the woodwork six times, the most of any team in the league.
