Eusebio Di Francesco, the manager of Lecce, gave Francesco Camarda a hug just before his post-match interview yesterday as the Milan loanee will return home.
Camarda has been on loan at Lecce since the start of the season, hoping to continue his development with more playing time. However, his campaign has been brought to a halt due to a shoulder injury, which might require surgery.
Milan have been in talks with Lecce over terminating the loan, but the Via del Mare side are not too keen on proceeding with the surgery. Instead, they want him to undergo conservative therapy and thus be able to make a difference at the end of the season.
Di Francesco’s words
More talks are expected to be held between the clubs to iron out the situation, but as confirmed by Di Francesco last night, Camarda will at least return to Milano. The striker was in the stands for Lecce’s 0-0 draw against Lazio and afterwards, he went down to hug the gaffer.
Di Francesco was then asked about the hug with Camarda and their relationship, which he said is similar to a father-son bond…
“Camarda told me he loves me; we have a special relationship, like a father and a son. I have three children and I know what expectations mean.
“Since he will be out for a while, he’s going home, and I wanted to say goodbye to him,” he told DAZN (via Calciomercato.com)
