Chelsea are thinking about a late move to sign Santiago Gimenez from AC Milan, with Roma also involved in the merry-go-round.
Gimenez’s agent said just a couple of days ago that her client will not be leaving Milan before the window closes, and despite this there has been a lot of speculation about a possible deadline day departure.
“Gimenez isn’t going anywhere. All the rumours that have emerged, from the first to the last, are untrue. They’re fake news,” Rafaela Pimenta said.
Chelsea now linked
According to the latest from Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea are pondering what would be a very late move to sign Gimenez from Milan. If an acceptable bid were to materialise, Milan would then go for Artem Dovbyk of Roma.
The problem is that Roma would need to have a replacement for the Ukrainian lined up, possibly Breel Embolo of AS Monaco. At the moment, it is a ‘complicated striker merry-go-round’ but the parties are at work to try make everyone happy.
However, Fabrizio Romano has already responded to the report from Di Marzio by claiming that Chelsea are in fact not interested in signing Gimenez. Thus, all hopes might well rest on agreeing an exchange with Roma.
