Niclas Fullkrug is proving to be a successful January addition for AC Milan so far, but the club want at least one more through the door.
It seemed almost inevitable that Milan would sign a physical type of striker this January, and so far, Fullkrug is ticking every box that the Rossoneri have needed him to do. Basically, he is offering what was not available before.
However, a deeper look at things shows that the Diavolo can now rely on a different profile, and with that, more tactical flexibility is offered. For example, his goal last night showed how Massimiliano Allegri’s team can be even more direct.
Where’s the defender?
In an ideal world, he would not have been the only player to arrive at the start of January, and it may be a case of opposites for Milan. Gianluca Di Marzio states that if a defender is to arrive, it will be at the end of the mercato, with the club waiting for an opportunity.
His words on Sky Sport 24 have been relayed by MilanNews.
“Milan is looking for a defender who can increase the quality rate. It’s not easy to find him on loan. So far, they haven’t found it, but they’re still alert because opportunities arise in the last two weeks of the market.
“For now standby situation and also depends on the game system. The need was to find the centre forward and Milan was very good at this: it arrived even before the market started.”
