Another positive update has arrived regarding the future of Mike Maignan, who has apparently never been so close to renewing with AC Milan.
A few weeks ago, it seemed that Maignan’s mind was made up. The talks early in 2025 which led to an offer being presented and then rescinded or revised downwards by Milan (depending on who you believe) resulted in the goalkeeper being determined to leave.
However, as we got towards the end of the last calendar year, hope began to grow that the Frenchman might reconsider his stance. In fact, even in the past few days there have been reports suggesting that he is now open to remaining, such is the impact of Allegri and his staff.
Maignan: renewal now close?
Gianluca Di Marzio made a significant indiscretion during a live broadcast on the Sky programme Calciomercato L’Originale last night. His words have been relayed by MilanNews, with the journalist suggesting things are moving along well.

“Maignan’s renewal with Milan has never been so close: the parties have never been so close. Very positive contacts in these hours and we are able to give you the new expiry date: 2031 with a salary similar to Leao’s, €5.7m [net per season]. Contacts between the parties will be held in the next few days to reach a definitive agreement.”
According to Emanuele Baiocchini – another Sky reporter who follows Milan – Maignan’s response is expected within ten days after the offer that the Rossoneri put forward. The lack of links with new goalkeepers in the past couple of weeks suggests growing confidence Mike will extend.
