Di Marzio: Milan attempt hijack of PSV’s €8m deal for Verona starlet – the situation

After the overnight move for Jean-Philippe Mateta, it seems AC Milan are attempting to hijack another deal late in the window.

In case you missed the big news of the morning, Milan have moved ahead of Nottingham Forest in the race to sign Mateta from Crystal Palace. Personal terms have been agreed with the striker, and now a €30m transfer agreement is close, though he may not arrive until June.

Another hijack

According to the latest from Gianluca Di Marzio, Hellas Verona and PSV have reached an agreement for Alphadjo Cissè but Milan have also entered the negotiations for the teenager.

The Rossoneri have made an offer to Verona which includes the proposal to leave Cissè on loan until the end of the season at Catanzaro, where he has six goals in this first part of the season.

The Dutch club meanwhile had reached an agreement for a figure of around €8m, so it feels like that Milan would have to match that figure in order to successfully hijack the operation.

Milan were repeatedly linked with a move for Cissè during 2024, when various sources claimed that the Rossoneri management were ready to pursue a deal worth €5m+. Whether he would be a signing for the first team or Milan Futuro remains to be seen.
