AC Milan are close to signing a central defender on deadline day, but one that will initially begin his time with Milan Futuro.
One of the names that continues to be intensely linked is Joe Gomez of Liverpool as Milan seek a centre-back reinforcement. However, there are now doubts about whether that will go through, and thus some alternatives are being considered.
Odogu deal close
According to Sky’s expert Gianluca Di Marzio (via MilanNews), Milan have completed a deal for Wolfsburg’s David Odogu and the operation is now nearing completion.
The 1.91m-tall German centre-back, born in 2006, made three Bundesliga appearances (for a total of 194 minutes) in the 2024-25 season, although he has yet to make his league debut in the current campaign.
At present there is no further indication regarding the structure of the deal or even the transfer fee, though it is reported that he will initially be used by the Futuro before eventually (hopefully) graduating to the first team.
Thus, the hole in the squad would remain in terms of a senior central defender who can instantly contribute, which could mean more late movement. You can track everything that goes on from now until the 20:00 CEST deadline on our live blog.
