This afternoon, Claudio Lotito has offered some information on Lazio’s pursuit of AC Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, which has seemingly come to an end.
Throughout the past few weeks, there have been multiple suggestions that Loftus-Cheek could be heading towards an exit. The Englishman wants a World Cup spot, and with him playing a bit-part role at Milan, it is difficult.
So, if he were to become a starter elsewhere, his chances may be boosted. Interest has come from England and Germany, but Lazio have been the main protagonists so far, thanks to the links with Maurizio Sarri.
A deal, so far, has not been unlocked, though.
Lotito shuts down Loftus-Cheek move rumours
Now, it seems like they will not at all. Matteo Guendouzi left Rome this week, and that fuelled the idea, but Claudio Lotito has shut down the rumours of a move when speaking to TMW, via MilanNews, today.
“Lazio will do what it takes. I’m smiling because I already know what’s going on… All this is based on preserving the club. I’m stable, the club isn’t for sale and it’s not scalable. Then people can write what they want…
“What I decide will arrive will happen. I’d like to clarify: about the two players [Raspadori and Loftus-Cheek] you mentioned… They didn’t want to come. They were contacted and said no thanks.”
