The sons of Liverpool's late Portuguese forward Diogo Jota, Dinis and Duarte and other family members take part in pre-game activities to honour the player who represented both Wolves and Liverpool in the Premier League, ahead of kick-off in the English Premier League football match between Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield in Liverpool, north west England on December 27, 2025. Father of three Jota, who married his long-term partner Rute Cardoso 11 days before the accident, died alongside his brother after a Lamborghini they were travelling in came off the road and burst into flames in northern Spain in July. Diogo Jota's children Dinis and Duarte accompanied the two teams onto the field before Liverpool took on Wolves in the Premier League - two sides that the former Portugal striker used to play for in England.

Meeting for the first time since Jota's tragic passing in the summer alongside his brother, Andre Silva, the occasion was marked poignantly here. The two captains, Virgil van Dijk and Matt Doherty, walked with the children, who were sporting the number 20 on their backs. Jota's widow, Rute, was also in attendance.

In the 20th minute, there were chants of 'Diogo' from the Wolves end, which drew applause from the Liverpool fans. The Kop then led the now-customary rendition of Jota's Anfield song, with the traveling supporters clapping along.

Moving from Wolves to Liverpool in 2020, Jota scored a total of 65 goals for the Reds during five years at Anfield. A banner was held aloft on The Kop before kick-off, containing an image of Jota holding the Premier League trophy.
