Dominik Szoboszlai's bag for international duty raises eyebrows and has fans concerned

1 hour ago 1

Liverpool's supporters were left scratching their heads at Dominik Szoboszlai's attire on international duty... as he shared a picture of himself holding a baby in a handbag!

The Reds midfielder, who has arguably been Liverpool's best player so far this term — leading to talks over a fresh contract — is on Hungary duty for World Cup qualifiers against Armenia and Ireland. Szoboszlai shared some rather artsy-looking pictures of himself ahead of Thursday's game in Armenia, and one of them showed him holding a baby by his side in a handbag.

Another picture showed Szoboszlai walking down the street with the same handbag, although thankfully, the baby had been removed from the bag by that point!

Szoboszlai and his wife, Borka Buzsik, welcomed a baby daughter in August 2025.

At the time, Szoboszlai wrote on social media: "Your birth means the world to me.

"Thank you, my love for bringing her into our life!"

Hungary is in a good position to secure a play-off spot for next summer's World Cup, but automatic qualification looks unlikely, with Portugal five points clear at the top with just two games remaining.

Meanwhile, despite Liverpool going through a difficult period in recent weeks, this season has been a good one for Szoboszlai, who has been a mainstay in the team, playing in multiple positions over the course of the campaign.

Speaking after Szoboszlai delivered another impressive performance in last week's Champions League win over Real Madrid, Arne Slot said: "Steven Gerrard would have been proud of [that performance].

"That’s probably the best compliment he can get!

"I think he’s been outstanding throughout the whole season, but these two games [against Aston Villa and Real Madrid] brought even more out of the team and out of him.

“For me, for obvious reasons; but it’s maybe smarter not to say those reasons because I don’t want to say the same things over and over again, and you probably know what I mean without me saying it?

“I think Dom has a lot, a lot, a lot of qualities, but one of them is also his work without the ball.

“And his work without the ball was... I like his work without the ball every single game and in the last two games that was probably even above his own standards.”
