AC Milan are one of the teams that has made an offer to Marco Verratti regarding a potential January move, a report from Argentine claims.
In truth, the midfield is not a department where much – if any – movement is expected in the winter mercato. Milan have Luka Modric, Adrien Rabiot and Youssouf Fofana as the starting three, plus Samuele Ricci, Ardon Jashari and Ruben Loftus-Cheek as capable back-ups.
However, there has been some speculation that Loftus-Cheek is of interest to Lazio and that their sale of Matteo Guendouzi to Fenerbahce for over €20m could see them make an offer. If he were to depart, a replacement could be looked into.
Milan in for Marco Verratti?
After leaving Paris Saint-Germain, Verratti moved to Qatar, where he has been playing for Al Duhail since last summer. However, according to Argentine outlet DSports (via Calciomercato.com), the former Italy international has ended up in the sights of clubs in Europe and South America.
Boca Juniors have had contacts with the midfielder ahead of the Copa Libertadores, but the Xeneizes will first have to free up one of the six slots reserved for foreign players as four are already occupied. So, they cannot make an instant move for the ex-Pescara man.
Commenting on Boca’s interest on DSports Radio, journalist Fernando Czyz revealed that so far only Milan have made an offer for Verratti, though nothing is definitive. Now, we must wait to see if sources closer to the club confirm the indiscretion.
