Eden Hazard makes admission regarding career regret: “As a kid, I supported Milan”

Eden Hazard has admitted that he would have liked to play for AC Milan at some point in his career, but he never got an offer.

For nearly 10 years, Hazard was one of the best forwards on the planet. He shone with Chelsea and Belgium, then moved to Real Madrid and eventually retired a bit sooner than he probably planned, having become worn out by injuries.

No Serie A club ever got to enjoy his magic, or rather only only as an opponent. For Chelsea he racked up 110 goals in 352 appearances, winning the Premier League twice, the Europa League twice, the FA Cup and the League Cup. With Real, he lifted the Champions League, Copa del Rey and LaLiga (twice).

‘I supported Milan’

Hazard arrived in Salento on Tuesday to present his wines. A red, a rosé, and a white from ‘The Wine Of The Champions’, the brand created by Fabio Cordella, a wine entrepreneur who produces bottles alongside footballers. La Gazzetta dello Sport spoke to him.

Were your ever close to playing in Serie A?

“To be honest… no. Moratti paid me a lot of compliments, but I’ve always dreamed of playing in the Premier League and for Real Madrid, and luckily, I achieved that.

“And then I’ll let you in on a secret: as a kid, I supported Milan, and a few hours ago [at the event] I met Galliani. He said he saw me as a good fit for Berlusconi’s Milan, but they never came forward either…”

Are the Nerazzurri the favourites for the Scudetto?

“Yes, although many things can change at any moment. Juventus are on the up, Napoli have quality. Chivu, however, can also do well in the Champions League.

“If you reach two finals in three years, it’s certainly no coincidence. The managers are competent, the players are strong, and the San Siro crowd makes the difference.”
