Egypt’s ‌national team director Ibrahim Hassan has hinted that Mohamed Salah may have played his last game for Liverpool after coming off with a hamstring injury during the Reds' Premier League win over Crystal Palace.

Salah was withdrawn just before the hour mark against Palace, and the early suggestions are that he is facing several weeks on the sidelines.

Liverpool's season ends on May 24, so there are obviously concerns that Salah might not make another appearance for the Reds before leaving at the end of the season.

Egypt fans will also be sweating on the fitness of its star man ahead of the start of the World Cup in June, but Hassan is hopeful that he will be back fit and available for the tournament.

"Mohamed Salah's injury is a muscle tear and he will be out of action for 4 weeks," Hassan said.

"The technical staff of the Egyptian national team will monitor the developments in his condition, and God willing, he will be present at the World Cup as normal."

Meanwhile, Arne Slot was also asked about Salah's injury after Saturday's 3-1 victory but was reluctant to put a timeframe on a return.

Slot said: "We don't know, that's the best answer I can give because if I say it might be a chance then probably all the headlines are, 'there might be a chance…'

"We simply don't know but what we do know is the season is in four weeks over, so there are not a lot of games being played.

"We have to wait and see how his injury is and if he is able to return to play.

"What I do know about Mo is throughout all of these years he has taken such good care of his body that he will have the minimum time required to recover from an injury.

"Let's hope for the best and that he is available in the last part [of the season]."

Liverpool was leading 2-0 when Salah was forced off to be replaced by Jeremie Frimpong, with Alexander Isak and Andy Robertson having scored in the first half.

Daniel Munoz pulled a goal back for Palace but Florian Wirtz scored deep into stoppage time to secure all three points and send the team level on points with third-placed Manchester United.
