Tosin Adarabioyo's injury that kept him out of Chelsea's game against Crystal Palace at the weekend is believed to be minor.
The central defender missed the Blues' 0-0 draw with the Eagles on Sunday, with teenager Josh Acheampong partnering Trevoh Chalobah at the heart of defence. Tosin's injury had been a worry, especially with Levi Colwill expected to miss most of the season with a knee injury andBenoit Badiashile not expected to return until next month.
However, Enzo Maresca has been handed a fitness boost as The Standard reports Tosin is expected to be back in training this week. Sources have described the injury as "very minor" and the player will be monitored closely in the coming days to decide next steps.
Tosin remains a doubt for Friday's Premier League clash with West Ham at London Stadium but is expected to be back playing soon. "He had a physical problem, we don't know for how long," Maresca explained after the draw with Palace.
"Wes [Fofana] was on the bench, but he was just on the bench to be with us. The plan was not to get any minutes. And now, hopefully for the next one, we can start to use Wes for more minutes."

Fofana has not featured since mid-March due to injury but the France international has been back in training in recent weeks and could make a return to action soon. Maresca added: "We are very happy first of all for Wes because after a long time he deserved to be back with us."
Before adding on Tosin: "There is a small injury, he needs some days off, then we will see for the next game."
Acheampong featured from the off on Sunday due to Tosin's injury and the 19-year-old had a decent game as he helped his side to a clean sheet. "Very good, very good," Maresca said of the teenager's performance.
"We already showed confidence on Josh last year. He played already some games. Today he did very well, he dealt with Mateta very well. So overall, he did a good game."
