‘Especially their weaknesses’ – Grosso discusses how he would stop Pulisic

Stopping Christian Pulisic is a task that many have struggled with in recent times, and the AC Milan star has profited on that.

This season, even when it wasn’t imagined that he could improve further, Pulisic has hit a new level. The American is on fire, and he has one of the best goal-scoring rates in the whole of Europe. Quite frankly, the contract renewal is a must.

There have been different approaches to trying to stop him, and very few have been successful, as proven by his contribution rate.

Grosso’s masterplan

As a former defender himself – especially a left-side one – Grosso can try to implement his own ideas, and he made note of that during a recent interview with DAZN, via MilanNews.

“I like leaving messages on the whiteboard in the locker room and jotting things down during meetings. We like to talk, but they say that when you talk, you forget, when you see, you remember, and when you do, you understand.

“So, it’s important to combine these three things to progress. My defensive style was a little different from that of a traditional defender.

“If I faced Pulisic today, I’d use my head much more than my body. It’s important to recognise your opponents’ strengths, but especially their weaknesses, and address them accordingly.”

Whether the Italian’s idea will be translated to his squad is something that will have to be seen. At this moment, it is impossible to look past Captain America, though.
