A total of 16 Liverpool players will be eyeing up a spot at this summer’s World Cup, with the tournament’s final line-up having now been confirmed after this week’s play-offs.

The final six places at the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico were claimed on Tuesday, with Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Sweden booking their spots in Europe, while DR Congo and Iraq secured the final two spots after overcoming Jamaica and Bolivia respectively.

The Reds of course face a huge couple of months now before players can start to think about representing their nations at this summer’s tournament. Arne Slot’s side still has a place in next season’s Champions League to try and secure, while there is still a chance of some silverware in Europe and the FA Cup.

Once the campaign is over and done with though, all attention will turn to the World Cup, with plenty of interest for Liverpool.

There is the potential for 16 of the Reds’ players to be involved at the tournament, representing 11 countries in total.

Alisson Becker will be hoping to prove his fitness before the end of the season, with the goalkeeper set to be Brazil’s No.1 as the five-time winners look to end their 24-year wait for another crown.

He’s not the only goalkeeper who could feature. Vitezslav Jaros, who is currently on loan at Ajax, will be hoping to earn a spot in the Czech Republic’s squad, having already been capped twice by his country.

The Netherlands look set to be represented by four Liverpool stars, with Virgil van Dijk captaining his nation as it looks to become world champion for the first time. Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo and Jeremie Frimpong will likely join him, although the latter may need to prove his fitness after picking up another injury on Tuesday.

Two players will be hoping to start for France at the tournament, with Ibrahima Konate hopefully having sorted his future by the time the World Cup rolls around. Hugo Ekitike, meanwhile, has done his chances no harm over the past year or so, and he looks to be certainty for Didier Deschamps’ squad at the very least now.

Andy Robertson will captain Scotland to a first World Cup in nearly 30 years, while Wataru Endo will hope to be donning the armband for Japan, although the midfielder faces a race against time to make his return from injury.

Florian Wirtz looks set to star for Germany, with the 22-year-old having been the standout performer for his country over the break, while Alexis Mac Allister will be aiming to defend Argentina’s crown and claim yet another title on the international stage.

Having been forced to watch on from afar as his side secured its place at the tournament through the play-offs, Alexander Isak will now be hoping he get back up to speed after his injury before representing Sweden.

And of course, Mohamed Salah will be captaining Egypt. By that stage, the winger will have already said his goodbyes to Liverpool as he brings his nine-year spell at Anfield to a close this summer.

There is also the potential for a couple of Reds to make it into England’s squad for the tournament, with Joe Gomez and Curtis Jones eyeing up a late call-up, although they will have a lot of work to do in order to convince Thomas Tuchel at this stage. Rio Ngumoha could also be an outside bet for the Three Lions, although the 17-year-old’s chances do look to be very slim.
