Ben Gannon-Doak had to be stretchered off just 20 minutes into Scotland’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Denmark as the former Liverpool star suffered another worrying injury.
The 20-year-old, who left the Reds during the summer transfer window after three years at Anfield, went down clutching his hamstring and looked to be in agony before a stretcher was called for to carry him off the pitch.
Just moments earlier, Gannon-Doak had played a huge hand in putting Scotland ahead, providing the cross for Scott McTominay to score with a spectacular overhead kick, and give Andy Robertson’s men the perfect start to their winner-takes-all encounter.
The Liverpool left-back captained his country once again in their final qualifying game at Hampden Park, with the hosts knowing that a win would see them qualify for their first World Cup since 1998.
