Tyler Morton is being linked with a return to the Premier League, just a few months on from his departure from Liverpool.
The academy graduate brought his 17-year association with the Reds to an end during the summer - having also played a starring role in England defending its UEFA U21 Euros title - as he made the move to Lyon.
Despite an early setback after receiving a red card in just his fourth game for his new club - for which he was heavily criticized by the media in France - Morton has managed to make quite the impression, having started all but one of Lyon’s league games so far.
And it would appear that his form is catching the attention back on home shores, with Crystal Palace being linked with bringing him back to the Premier League.
According to French outlet Jeunes Footeux, Palace has identified the 23-year-old as a potential long-term option in midfield, given Adam Wharton is being heavily touted for a move away from Selhurst Park.
As a result, Palace is said to be keeping a close eye Morton’s situation, and while Lyon hopes to keep the midfielder for more than just one season, the club could be tempted into negotiating, especially given its precarious financial situation.
A return to the Premier League may also be welcomed by Morton, who decided to leave Anfield after being left frustrated by his lack of opportunities under Arne Slot during his final season on Merseyside - he failed to make a league appearance during the 2024/25 campaign, and made just five senior appearances across other competitions.
“I think he thought I was a good player, but I don’t feel the trust was there as much,” Morton said last month about his time under Slot. “In my opinion, the limited opportunities were down to trust and not ability.
“When I got my opportunity in the cup, I felt like I played well. That’s all I could say.

“I stuck at it, stayed focused, got through to the end of the season and played in the Under-21 Euros, which was amazing.
“I had a few conversations with him [Slot] during the season. A lot of footballers can be bitter about not playing and let their egos get in the way, but I’m not that type of lad.
“I personally disagreed with the limited amount of game time I got last season, but that was out of my control.
“I did everything I could. I played for the Under-21s when a lot of players wouldn’t. I did everything in my power to stay fit and mentally focused for when my time came, and I still got limited opportunities.”
