Charlton has confirmed that Conor Coady has been released from the hospital after losing consciousness during the team's stalemate against Watford.

Coady, who started his career at Liverpool before playing for the likes of Everton and Wolves, was carried off on a stretcher in the dying moments of the 1-1 draw between the two sides on Easter Monday. The experienced defender was struck in the face by a powerfully hit shot and was rendered unconscious.

Medical personnel responded swiftly, and the 33-year-old was transported to the hospital for evaluation. There was a considerable interruption at Vicarage Road before the fixture could reach its conclusion.

It ended 1-1 after Matty Godden's 62nd-minute strike for the visitors was matched by Nestory Irankunda's leveler for Watford in the 74th minute.

Charlton announced in a statement: "Conor Coady has been discharged from hospital following a head injury sustained in Monday's 1-1 draw against Watford at Vicarage Road.

"The 33-year-old was knocked unconscious after being struck by a shot in stoppage time. He was stretchered off and taken to a local hospital, where he underwent a series of scans.

"Coady has since been given the all-clear and was discharged this evening. The club would like to thank Watford's medical staff for their support and assistance.

"Charlton's medical staff will continue to monitor him in line with the appropriate protocols."

Charlton manager Nathan Jones praised Coady following the final whistle.

He said: "He was taken to hospital. He put his body on the line on his 500th [career club] appearance. He gets knocked out, and that [bravery] typifies his performance."

Jones told BBC Radio London: "It's a good point. Watford have outstanding individuals who can change and win a game — players who have cost millions, talented individuals from all over Europe.

"When we got the goal, they made a plethora of positive subs. We found that difficult to contain, but we didn't give them any clear-cut chances and, when they shot from distance, [goalkeeper] Will Mannion had a wonderful game.

"We need to get a win very, very soon, so it just settles everyone down and we can start planning. We'll probably have to lose every game to be embroiled in anything, but the message is to finish the season strongly."

The stalemate sees Charlton sitting 18th in the Championship, while Watford occupies 10th position, seven points shy of the playoff places with five fixtures remaining.
