Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy believes Antoine Semenyo's versatility could be a valuable asset for Liverpool.
The Bournemouth winger is being linked with a possible January transfer to Anfield after it emerged that there is a buy-out clause in his current Cherries deal, which will be active during the Premier League's winter window.
Semenyo signed a new contract at Bournemouth over the summer, but did so on the condition that he would be allowed to leave for a set price. That price is £65 million ($86 million), and he is reportedly on the radars of Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham.
Semenyo has begun the season brilliantly, registering six goals and three assists, with only Erling Haaland and Igor Thiago having scored more league goals than him.
The summer departure of Luis Diaz from Liverpool, coupled with a disappointing start to the season from Cody Gakpo, has raised questions over the firepower available to Arne Slot on the left flank.
But it is on the right flank where Murphy thinks he could be particularly useful, as he thinks that Slot is not currently satisfied with his options there beyond talisman Mohamed Salah, who is now 33 years old.
"Slot is obviously not a big fan of (Federico) Chiesa," Murphy said on talkSPORT. "Liverpool were strong out on that left last season.
"(Diogo) Jota could play out there if he was needed to, and Liverpool didn't really replace Luis Diaz.
"If you are thinking about a long-term replacement for Salah, Semenyo is as comfortable on the right as the left.
"I am not sure Slot fancies Chiesa or Frimpong on the right. Do Liverpool need him? Yes, he would enhance the forward line.
"Manchester United could be an attractive one for him. Arsenal has (Bukayo) Saka, (Noni) Madueke, but most fans would think he could push for a place on the left wing with (Gabriel) Martinelli and (Leandro) Trossard.
"(Jeremy) Doku is playing out of his skin for (Manchester) City, but that could be an option.
"I think he has huge belief in himself that he can play in any of the teams, and it could come down to the sell of the manager.
"There are other factors but when you have a choice, like he has, it is going to be which manager makes him feel special and sells the dream to him."
