Ex-Liverpool star urges Alexander Isak to make two bold moves to secure Newcastle exit

1 day ago 26

Don Hutchison has called on Alexander Isak to submit a transfer request if he's keen on leaving Newcastle United, while criticizing the striker's agent for mishandling the situation. The Swedish forward has expressed a desire to depart from the Magpies this summer, with Liverpool being his preferred destination.

Liverpool's hefty $148 million (£110m) has been turned down by Newcastle, and as a result, Isak has been training solo amidst the ongoing uncertainty about his future. He hasn't played for the Magpies during pre-season as he waits for a move and has now told the club he will not pull on its shirt again.

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Hutchison has directed his frustration at Isak's agent amid the ongoing transfer drama, confessing that he'd give his representative the boot if he were in the player's boots.

"If I was A Isak I would sack my agent on the spot today," he stated on X, previously known as Twitter. "Soccer players even tho they have a say and an opinion generally take the advice from your agent.

"The agent has handled this saga incredibly bad. The agent is hanging his player out to dry for the money...."

Hutchison continued in another tweet, advising Isak to put in a transfer request if he truly wishes to exit Newcastle.

"If it's not about the money," he said. "Put in a written transfer request. Doing that means you give up all the money owed to move on....

"The reason they haven't done so is because they want the payout from Newcastle and the transfer plus cash from Liverpool."

The Athletic reported on Tuesday that Isak views his Newcastle career as finished and has no plans to play for the club again, irrespective of whether they continue to obstruct his desire to move on.

Liverpool has not come back with a better offer since the bid was turned down by the Magpies on August 1.

It's understood that the club chiefs deemed it pointless to return with a higher offer, given the prompt and decisive rejection from Newcastle.

However, with the Magpies still on the hunt for new attacking talent and Isak insistent on moving on, the Reds are keeping a close eye on his situation and stand ready to act if Newcastle change their stance.
