Cesc Fabregas has admitted that he is waiting for Alvaro Morata’s arrival, while he is not in favour of AC Milan playing Como in Australia.
Reports have put forward the possibility that Milan’s home game against Como could be played at the Optus Stadium a 60,000-seat facility usually used for Australian football, rugby and cricket. It is because San Siro will be unavailable due to the Winter Olympics, and the FIGC approved it.
There are still several other steps needed before the idea comes to fruition. Speaking of steps forward, Morata seems to be closing in on a move to join the club by the lake, where he would reunite with his former team-mate and compatriot.
Fabregas spoke at a press conference on the eve of the Como Cup. The first match of this four-way tournament will be on Wednesday 23 July against Al-Ahli, and the coach spoke to journalists at the Mozzate sports centre.
Is Alvaro Morata coming?
“Let’s see. I don’t like to talk about something that’s 100% done.”
What do you think about Milan vs. Como potentially being in Australia?
“It’s strange, it’s never happened before and it says it all. It’s true that especially for us, the Como people and the club, after 21 years of playing against Juventus and Milan… people want to go and see the show live. We have Fiorentina first and Atalanta after, and when we have to go there it’s not great.
“I can’t say too much, but it doesn’t worry me too much because the club is taking care of it. People who live football, who talk and want to enjoy their team can’t do that. It doesn’t seem like the right thing to do.”
