The future of Santiago Gimenez continues to dominate the AC Milan headlines, and now his father has spoken out again.
Gimenez is still out of action with the ankle injury that has sidelined him since early November. As was the case at the end of the summer, there have been stories claiming that the Mexican could leave Milan in the January transfer window to make way for a striker more suited to Massimiliano Allegri.
The former Feyenoord man’s plan, however, is completely different. Following yesterday’s words from his agent Rafaela Pimenta, today his father Christian Gimenez also reiterated his desire not to move from Milan.
Speaking live on the Vamos Show program on YouTube, Gimenez’s father explicitly confirmed what his son’s agent had said about the possibility of a January exit. Calciomercato.com relayed his words.
When asked directly: “There’s a lot of talk about the Premier League, is it likely they’re trying to change the scene so Santi can get more minutes?” Chaco Gimenez replied: “No, not on our part. Not on our part.”
Then came the further thrust. When asked directly: “If it were up to him, wouldn’t he leave Milan?” Gimenez’s father reiterated: “No, that’s not the case. He’s very happy in Milan, and I think he feels that at some point, if he manages to get well, he could become very important.
“He also has his own representative [Rafaela Pimenta], and I don’t get too involved. But the truth is, we haven’t talked about this. I know a lot has been said, but we haven’t spoken about it with Santi, the club, or anyone else.”
