Fiorentina’s sporting director offers explanation on Comuzzo’s summer: “Understand the value”

Pietro Comuzzo’s name was linked to AC Milan several times this summer. However, a move never occurred.

There has been a lot of criticism directed towards Milan for their summer business, and their movements at the back are a big reason for this. Rather than investing in a ready, young defender, they invested in a ‘ready’ one and someone to grow.

Koni De Winter is certainly young enough to continue growing, but is more ready to play Serie A football now. David Odogu, on the other hand, is certainly one for the future; there can be no denying that at this point.

Deals rejected

Comuzzo’s name sat beside Giovanni Leoni for a lot of the summer, in terms of ideal additions. Though the latter went to Liverpool, and now the Fiorentina man seems likely to be a lot more expensive next summer, if the interest remains.

Today, Daniele Prade, the Viola’s sporting director, spoke about his situation to ANSA, via MilanNews.

“It has demonstrated the strength of this club, which spent €92 million on buy-outs and signings, turning down several unmissable offers like €35 million for Comuzzo. When investments like this are made, you understand the value and objective of this Fiorentina.”
