First shot at redemption: Milan’s run of revenge starts with Pisa return

2 hours ago 38

Next week’s clash against Pisa will be AC Milan’s first shot at revenge, following four now infamous games earlier in the season.

Just as Milan’s strong record against the top rivals has been highlighted this season, the same can be said for their struggles against the bottom-half sides. It all stems from four games, really: the defeat against Cremonese, as well as the draws against Pisa, Parma and Sassuolo.

The first one stings the most, not just because it was the opening game and at San Siro, but also because Milan could have been unbeaten this season. Of course, some would argue it acted as a wake-up call for the Rossoneri, so the unbeaten aspect can be discussed.

Run of revenge starts

In any case, with the above in mind, Milan will have their first shot at revenge on Friday next week as they will take on Pisa away from home. They have already shown that they can actually beat bottom-half sides, but I’m sure the Rossoneri will be out for revenge regardless.

While the Sassuolo return leg will take place at the end of the season, the Cremonese and Parma returns will follow pretty quickly after the Pisa game. This means that Milan will have a chance of redeeming themselves in consecutive games, which can only boost confidence.

  • Pisa-Milan: February 13, 20:45
  • Milan-Como: February 18, 20:45
  • Milan-Parma: February 22, 18:00
  • Cremonese-Milan: TBA

Shifting focus back to the Pisa game, they changed managers earlier this week, hiring Oscar Hiljemark to replace Alberto Gilardino. He has already spoken about the game and for him, snatching points from the Rossoneri could send a huge signal.

As such, Milan will be hoping to get the job done and Massmiliano Allegri might also be able to rely on Christian Pulisic. The American has been on the sidelines lately due to an injury, but his goal is to be recovered for Friday’s action.
