Florenzi believes Milan ‘deserved more’ vs. Juventus and names Allegri’s ‘most important task’

There was a familiar face in the Sky studios last night as Alessandro Florenzi was a pundit for AC Milan’s game against Juventus.

After a tense first half, the game sprung into the life after the break. Mike Maignan made a brilliant save to deny Federico Gatti early in the second half before Christian Pulisic missed the target with a penalty and Rafael Leao also failed to take a couple of late chances.

A point each would have to do in the end, and it is a result that keeps the unbeaten run going for both sides. That being said, Milan will feel a bit of regret to not be top of the table going into the international break.

Florenzi gave his thoughts on the stalemate in the studio after the game, commenting on various aspects of Milan’s performance. His comments were relayed by Radio Rossonera.

On the game: “Milan deserved more points, the penalty changed the scoreline a lot. But you can take home a point away from home against Juventus.”

On Modric: “Modric is a champion, he’s 40 but looks like he’s 25. Football-wise, he’s much better than the others, otherwise he wouldn’t be performing as he has so far.”

On Allegri’s work: “It’s a completely different team, and there are important foundations from which they’ve started again, like the coach, who knows the environment, is Italian, and knows Serie A.

“Milan play once a week, and that’s an advantage. When I won the Scudetto with Milan, I’m sure we won it because we exited the Champions League early. Physically, we were the strongest at the end of the season.”

On Gimenez and Leao: “I think he’s [Gimenez] much better physically, he always has two chances per game, which means he’ll score sooner or later.

“How do you fit Leao in? For me, Allegri’s most important task will be finding a place for Rafa. He improved a lot under Pioli, but he had a team that played for him. For me, he’s not a normal player, he’s strong. Leao hasn’t yet understood how strong he is.”
