Fofana happy to be back in eleven for Cagliari-Milan: “Let’s see if I’m 100%”

Youssouf Fofana is playing from start for AC Milan against Cagliari this evening. Just a few minutes ago, he spoke to the media and discussed being in the starting eleven.

After what was a strong performance against Hellas Verona, Milan need to start 2026 in the same fashion against Cagliari tonight. The Rossoneri have a tremendous head-to-head record against the Sardinian side, but there have also been some frustrating results in recent times.

Due to several players in suboptimal condition, Fofana has been given the chance from start in midfield, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek moving to the attack. Speaking to Sky Italia just a few minutes ago (via MilanNews), the Frenchman shared his thoughts on the opportunity.

You’re back in the starting lineup after a month. How are you feeling?

“I’m fine. I’ve been working to get back into the starting eleven as soon as possible. Now let’s see if I’m 100%.”

How do you feel about this season so far?

“Nothing right now. If we have 9 more points than last season, that’s fine, but we also need to have them at the end of the season.

Did you concede too many goals without you?

“Against smaller teams, we have more possession, so we want to score. We’ll work on this to concede as few goals as possible, right until the end.”

What do you think about Fullkrug?

“He seems like a good guy to me. As a player, he wants to do things well. We need to help him do well here at Milan.”

It will definitely be a chance for Fofana to prove himself a little, even if Massimiliano Allegri has always appreciated his contributions. Ardon Jashari and Samuele Ricci will be watching on for the bench, hoping to get a chance in the second half.
