Fofana happy with ‘aggressive’ Milan performance in Bologna: “We’re all united”

Youssouf Fofana was happy with the aggression that AC Milan showed in their win over Bologna, but also their maturity.

Fofana returned to the starting line-up after being left out of the last two games completely as an unused substitute, and he put in a decent performance against Bologna on Tuesday night.

It was a very positive night for the team generally speaking too, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christopher Nkunku and Adrien Rabiot all scoring in an eventual 3-0 rout.

The win means that the unbeaten run stretches to 22 games in Serie A, while Milan move back to five points behind Inter, while a seven-point gap has opened up over Roma who are in fifth place.

Fofana spoke to DAZN after the final whistle at the Stadio Renato dall’Ara to offer his thoughts on a good night of work by him personally and by the team. MilanNews relayed what he had to say.

How are you? You ran a lot tonight…

“I felt pretty good tactically tonight. It was a tough match against a team that plays man-to-man. We had to be a bit aggressive and play with maturity. Personally, I felt good, even physically. But I can always do better with the ball.”

How important is this French soul of Milan? Rabiot, Nkunku’s great performance, Maignan… How important is this unity in the dressing room?

“It’s not just the four of us, it’s the whole team together. It’s always nice to give a hug to those who did well, like Adri [Rabiot] tonight or Nkunku, who started slowly but is now a top-level player. We’re all united, don’t worry (laughs).”

Do you dream of something beyond the Champions League in the dressing room?

“Honestly? The goal is to do better than last year.”
