Crystal Palace have rejected an official offer from AC Milan for Jean-Philippe Mateta, who reportedly had agreed on a contract with the Rossoneri.
The No.9 position has been a hot topic for Milan this season, mainly due to Santiago Gimenez and Christopher Nkunku not living up to expectations. At the very least, the Frenchman has been picking up some steam lately, while the addition of Niclas Füllkrug has helped too.
Nevertheless, the Rossoneri have been linked with quite a few strikers as the situation remains uncertain for the future. Jean-Philippe Mateta is one of them, especially since it has been reported that he would like a move to Italy.
Crystal Palace not interested
Late last night, Footmercato and their journalist Santi Aouna added that Milan had submitted an offer for the French striker. However, this was immediately rejected by Crystal Palace, presumably because the terms weren’t good enough.

Mateta, on the other hand, had already reached an agreement on a contract with Milan. Whether the Rossoneri will make another attempt remains to be seen, but the feeling is that they didn’t submit the best offer in the world.
After all, if Nkunku and Füllkrug can keep up their recent form, then Milan can definitely postpone their striker pursuit until the summer. Paying a premium just because it’s January would be a bit foolish, in other words.
