Former Liverpool goalkeeper Alex Manninger, who was on the Reds' books in the 2016/17 season under Jurgen Klopp, has died at the age of 48.
Manninger, who also represented Arsenal and Juventus, retired at Liverpool when he was 39. Though he never made an appearance for the Reds, he was viewed as a positive presence at Melwood, where he trained with the goalkeepers.
"We mourn our former goalkeeper Alexander Manninger, who tragically lost his life in a traffic accident," Red Bull Salzburg said in a statement posted on social media. "Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in peace, Alexander."
