Niclas Füllkrug has admitted that joining AC Milan is a special time in his career, while he has settled into life in Italy already.
Füllkrug seems to have won the Milan fans over after just a few appearances. He took to the field against Lecce loaded up with painkillers (as he did in Como too) to ease the discomfort following a broken toe, which would have suggested rest for anyone else.
He played the final minutes of the match at San Siro after the shock theft in the hotel suite where he’s temporarily staying. The West Ham loanee – who arrived on loan with option to buy – arrived in the right place at the right time to head in his first goal for the club, a winner too.
Füllkrug was interviewed on today’s SportMediaset about his move to Milan, his broken toe and how he is finding life in a new country. His comments have been relayed by MilanNews.
What did it feel like to join Milan?
“It’s hard to say, but it’s obviously a very special moment. I’m happy that the club has given me the confidence to be considered a good player and to be able to play for a great team like this because I can do it and they believe in it.
“It’s as if the previous year and a half hadn’t been good, but now I feel so good to be here. The energy is so positive, the mentality is so positive, and I’m enjoying the moment.”

How is your toe?
“My toe is still broken (laughs), but it’s okay, it’s manageable.”
What are your impressions of the team?
“I think we have a great team and a great group, and that’s very important. Each of us is focused on the next match. We’re not looking too far ahead, we’re thinking about taking three points at a time.”
And life in Italy?
“I love the Italian culture, I already feel at home. I feel so comfortable here, I feel at ease. I’m happy, my family is happy, we like the way the people are. The people are very warm.
“Obviously, Milan is a very special club, and everywhere I go, I see love from the fans, and that makes life much easier.”
