Niclas Füllkrug has posted on social media after his move to AC Milan was made official earlier on Friday.
It was no secret that January 2 – the first day of the winter transfer window – would be the day that Füllkrug’s arrival was confirmed. Sure enough, both Milan and West Ham announced earlier in the day that the German striker has headed to San Siro in an initial loan deal.
The timing of his registration means he could score on his first official day, if he nets in Cagliari later tonight. Posting on Instagram, the 32-year-old announced his arrival: “Ciao Rossoneri, I’m finally here! It’s an incredible feeling. I can’t wait to wear this jersey.
“It’s a great honour for me to be part of this huge club rich in tradition, with all its history, personalities, and ambitions – and I’m really looking forward to giving my best to continue writing this story. Let’s get started – andiamo!”
Milan will hope Füllkrug gets back to his Borussia Dortmund form, where he made 42 appearances and scored 15 goals in a single season, three of them in the Champions League – a competition in which he also started in the final against Real Madrid.
