Matteo Gabbia has praised the work of director Igli Tare with the new signings he has made, as well as revealing the impact Massimiliano Allegri has had.
Milan secured a massive victory in the Sunday night six-pointer at San Siro, beating Roma 1-0. Strahinja Pavlovic got the only goal of the match and it came somewhat against the run of play, with Rafael Leao doing the hard work before squaring to the defender on the counter.
In a second half full of flashpoints and huge missed opportunities, Paulo Dybala stepped up from the spot with 10 minutes yet to earn Roma what would have surely been at least a point. Yet, he failed to beat Mike Maignan from the penalty spot as he parried it around the post.
‘Enjoy it to the fullest’
Gabbia spoke to reporters from Sportitalia and TeleLombardia after the final whistle went at San Siro to give his thoughts on a huge three points, with his comments via MilanNews.
Towards the end of the match you revved up the crowd…
“From this point of view, the crowd was truly exceptional, as always, super fans. They helped us so much to bring home this match. We’re lucky to play in front of these fans, we have to hold them close and enjoy it to the fullest.”

Does this win mark the beginning of a new cycle?
“Well, I don’t know. We need to be clear-headed: we definitely need to have the ambition that these points will give us momentum, but we also need to be calm, because these are three points, just like the ones next Saturday can be.
“As the coach says, the most important thing is to have clarity and calm in analysing the games, as well as being at Milanello every day with enthusiasm.”
What did Allegri give you?
“He’s given us a lot. From a technical standpoint, he’s given us a wealth of knowledge and opportunities. He prepares matches very well, and credit must be given to the entire staff: each of them is important within the group. His clarity and calmness, too, always keep his feet on the ground.”
Leao and Maignan were decisive…
“I’m happy that some of my team-mates have stayed: we’re a truly healthy group. Besides excellent players, there are exceptional youngsters. And even the new ones, the director deserves praise: the ones he brought in are excellent players and good people.”
