Matteo Gabbia has admitted that there is a strong feeling of disappointment inside the AC Milan dressing room after the draw against Parma.
Milan let more valuable points slip away as they surrendered a two-goal lead against Parma in a 2-2 draw on Saturday night. The Rossoneri went two goals up inside half an hour as Alexis Saelemaekers fired in the opener before winning a penalty that Rafael Leao stuck away with aplomb.
However, Adrian Bernabe scored a wondergoal from nothing just before the half-time interval and that seemed to fire Parma right up. They then levelled through Enrico Delprato in the second half, yet Milan missed two 1v1 chances at the end as another two points slipped away.
‘We can’t throw away any more points’
Gabbia was interviewed by Sky and DAZN after the final whistle and he offered his take on what was a frustrating night for Milan, continuing a trend against the teams at the bottom end. MilanNews relayed his comments.

What’s the feeling like in the dressing room?
“We’re disappointed because we threw away two points. And we know they’re not the first this season. We have to try to work harder and be more careful when preparing for these matches. We have to try to do something more.”
You seem to struggle against the ‘lesser’ sides…
“The coach will tell us the answer. It’s often a question of focus – we need to play more carefully.”
How did Parma come back?
“The coach told us we must always stay united. We’ve done it against big teams, but less so against smaller ones. We have to learn from this evening, but we have to do it quickly because we can’t throw away any more points.”
How do you react personally after a night like that?
“I told myself that we didn’t take the field well, we weren’t able to unite and communicate properly, and ultimately we didn’t defend well.
“This is the great disappointment tonight, and it’s what must help us improve so we don’t drop points like this again, because we’ve already dropped enough of them this year.”
Do you suffer when the pace slows down?
“These are match situations. This year too, we were deep and still defended very well. It’s a matter of focus and communication, which then allows you to defend well in the penalty area as well.
“Tonight’s mistakes aren’t due to how the match was prepared, but rather because we could have performed better on the pitch with more focus and communication, and we could have been more active in certain situations.
“It’s still very disappointing because two points were thrown away. We need to be calm and improve on these things to try to win these games too.”
